Brilliant evening. Collected the pad retaining springs from the local Ford dealer and fitted them to the refurbished calipers.

Then put some Copper Ease on the hubs and slid the discs over the studs. The calipers fitted pretty easily and I fitted them with the new special coated bolts you can just see in one picture. The braided brake hoses also fitted, after I had worked out which end needed tightening first.

Then, having spoken with Chris at Cranbrook (at last) I knew to fit the fan using just the ties, which took a few minutes only. You can see how they need to be trimmed in the other photograph. Seems pretty flimsy to me.

I then decided to torque up the two extra bolts under the gearbox, and change the engine oil drain plug washer. The scrappy had said that the engine was drained but something fortunately made me put protection and a drain pan under the hole - thank goodness. Several litres of filthy oil flowed out. I need to get a new oil filter too. Anyway it was also easy to torque up the drain plug.

Finally, I've managed to order a second-hand roll bar from Cranbrook. Not their most elegant but safety first and not too expensive. Neville's going top collect the car while I'm away next week and do the welding and some fiddly bits like handbrake switch, clutch pipe, reroute the handbrake cable and and so on then I hope I can get a day on my return to go down to Liphook and start the body fitting. All in all, pretty satisfying.
