Started to lay in the wiring, both the Premier loom and the MX5 engine loom. The Premier loom main part lays across the dash rail and then I had to find a way to feed the engine loom back into the tub. I drilled through the front of the tub on the passenger side and fed the MX5 loom through. The plan is to place the ECU on the nearside tub return, held in place with Velcro where it will be below the dash itself and out of any rain. I also borrowed a Mini heater the same as mine will be (postal strike permitting) to see how that and the loom could fit. This meant cutting through the tub -
it's horrible when you make holes this way! However what became apparent was that the better wiring solution will be to run the MX5 loom via a hole drilled through the side of the engine bay on the drivers side, just behind the pedal box. The loom can then run along under the dash top behind the dash fascia, the fuse box can be mounted on the side pod next to the pedal box and above the battery, and the MAF unit can sit beside that. The original hole I drilled through to the engine bay will be the exit for the cables for the headlights, instrument cables etc.
Late in the day I tried to close up the shut line between the tub and the offside pod but did not really get it as neat as I would like. I don't think I can do much more to improve it but I'll keep thinking.
