19th February

Trying to sort out some parts for the engine. Spoke with Andrew Stott at AutoLink regarding gearlever boots, seals etc. In passing he mentioned that the autobox engine had a different throttle body to the manual, giving max torque at 5800rpm instead of 6800. It has different cams too. It also has a more sophisticated feedback to the ECU to handle the torque converter etc which is desirable, rather than the simple idle control on the manual engine. So on reflection I have to decide whether to swap out the throttle body from my existing inlet manifold to fit the shiny manifold that Alistair gave to me! I think I will do that because Alistair’s new engine came from an automatic and it goes very well.
