At last back to the car. As I mentioned Neville took it back to Oakhanger to sort out the Panhard rod and several other points that I just cannot tackle here. So I took a day off and got there about 9. The Panhard rod mount had been badly welded before delivery and since KCW don't exists any more, we had to redo it. It surprised Neville but he got the air hacksaw on it and 4 hours later we had a new mount with a tube and strengthening webs as shown.
While he was busy welding I used his spring compressors to lift the base plate on the rear shocks so that they do not foul the back axle and we also made sure that the top mountings were adjusted to conform with the SVA need for washers etc. Then we checked that the wheels I had bought from Mark Fisher fitted with the Sierra calipers etc and they do. At the same time Nev ordered wheel nuts, longer studs and spacers for the rear and some other compnents from D Tweeks. We had hoped to get the body trial fitted (that's it below on top of the B heritage shell Nev is doing and next to the racing Mk 2 he looks after) but the welding took up more than half the day, so we ended by fitting the tub inner panels. It's amazing how much faster you go with two people and a fully equipped engineering shop!
Note for future. These are the best kind of rivetter if your air rivetter breaks!
