I connected the fuel pump to the loom and secured the P clip for the fuel line. Then I reinstalled the column switches and levers and drilled and bolted the group of earth wires on the loom to the column support. Then it was back to what looked like the mess on the MX5 engine loom in the engine bay. However once looked at in separate branches, as I had been able to do when I laid it out in the drive months ago, it appeared that the main fuse and relay box would sit on the offside front chassis rail. Nev then spotted that the wires to that box that we had thought were not removable had neat little plugs on them which enabled me to run the mass of wires much more neatly. That enabled us to decide on the place in the side pod for the battery which I cut out with the air hacksaw, to plan an extra niche so that the cables emerging from the dash rail could be neatly concealed within the pod yet run neatly to the various functions and so on. Finally I taped the wheel arch in place and could see that the MAF meter and air filter will sit neatly next to the fuel rail using the flexible air pipe I bought from Europa Spares. I simply need to fabricate a bracket out of stiff steel to support it. Very pleased with all this.
