Entirely speculatively we wonder if the clutch slave cylinder that is the link between the master cylinder and the clutch fork may be jammed in some way - it came with the gear box from a scrapped car. You can see the brass nipple on it at the bottom of the gearbox here just to the right of the bunch of cables hanging down. I've ordered a new spare from MX5 Parts - cheaper than Autolink and much cheaper at £13.50 than a genuine Mazda part. I've also ordered heat reflective mat and contact adhesive for lining the exhaust pod. And I have a pass for Saturday!
