On the basis that if it looks like a dogs dinner it probably is, here are the first photos of the second hand MX5 loom going in. At least I've been able to identify 98% of the

key components, relays, fuses etc and get them connected up. However there are hundreds of wires that I will not need all wrapped up in the loom and it needs a lot of care to separate them out. The Haynes manual is good if the terms are clear but often the term in the text varies from the term on the diagram. The one Justin sent to me is very good. There are some circuits I could still use for the things like wipers etc but we'll see. Of course I did not have the socket I need for the gearbox switches! Noticed that the insulation on one coil must have been chipped when the scrappy took it out - need to find another.
I need to make a decision about the body now. I think if Mark will hold onto it until July that will be best, I need to ask him tomorrow.
Finally I see on the Google Sylva site that someone has done an MX3 V6 1.8 with MX5 gearbox in a Fury. They don't mention pedal box mods so I suspect that the engine is shorter and can be set a little further forward. May try to find out more.
