I had ordered fuel pipe, fuel filler cap, (including lead free insert) and some heater water hose. Also the air ducting for the engine which I had intended to work on this weekend but when the parcel arrived from Europa this was "TF" - to follow. I also ordered 3" bolts for the trailing arms and a dozen 1/2" UNF Nyloc bolts from Stagonset. I started by removing the old 21/2" bolts from the offside arm and fitting the new one but with the poor shaping on the original bracket and the lack of access now I could not get the new one through. So I deferred that and moved on to the fuel filler and pipe. I plotted the position of the hole in the rear deck then drilled with a large hole saw, cleaned up the hole so that the filler would sit in it then measured the length of fuel pipe I would need by passing it through the hole in the body, down through he hole in the boot floor and over the opening in the tank. This was relatively straightforward, and after removing the seal I had put over the tank orifice and slipping a Jubilee clip in place the filler nested neatly in the neck so I bolted it in place (twice - because the first time I forgot the lead free insert). Nev told me that last week while the car was in the yard so that he could get another on a ramp someone had clipped the rear wing of the Fury. It's actually more a graze than anything and he says he'll fix it - looks as if it will be easy to smooth out. Currently we share the garage with this gorgeous Mk 1 historic Lotus Cortina for which Nev is rebuilding the engine!
